This one's a little trickier than last week's, but I think for me it's "Good God, Y'all". It's an interesting case with some good twists in it, some great visuals, a good way to get Ellen and Jo back (so that they can be lost again)--and it gives Sam the chance to acknowledge the truth of his addiction on his own, without Dean forcing it on him.

How about you all--which one's your favorite, and why?

There are too many good ones to choose from. I DON'T REALLY WANT TO PICK WENDIGO because it is by all accounts the least ambitious of any of those episodes, and I am always here to champion later-season SPN, but I think I still have to go with Wendigo because nothing can stop my love for backcountry episodes. I AM WHO I AM. I also feel bad that I'm trying to remember what 14x02 and so much has happened in the last year I cannot even remember where we left off last season/started up this season.

OH, RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT. MICHAEL. HAHAHA. THAT GUY!
There is no wrong answer! And Wendigo is about as backcountry an episode as you can get. :D

(Feel no shame about s14, either--I missed a huge chunk of it because of CW playing silly buggers with episode availability. And s13 is mostly just a blur to me because there were so few MotW episodes, which is how I mentally map out each season. The arc episodes tend to just run together as far as I'm concerned.)
Despite some of the cheesiness with the MoTW, I really enjoyed Wendigo. It was a good case and as we were just starting to learn more about Dean and Sam, this episode did continued to fill some information for us all. It gave us some good brotherly moments, too. I fully enjoyed this episode.
It definitely serves to solidify both the characters and the general MotW format, and stands quite well as a little action-adventure romp.
Hello, Cruel World, hands down. I struggle with mental illness, and I <3 hallucinating-Lucifer-Sam. And the scene where Dean convinces him to make him (Dean) stone number one...<3
This is a difficult choice as I love 'The Kids Are Alright' with Ben the mini-Dean, but it has to be Reichenbach. I loved demon Dean, he wasn't around long enough. The way he taunted Cole was so brutal but funny too with his Inigo Montoya impression, and the scene when Sam finds him in the piano bar was chilling. It broke my heart when Dean referred to his Baby as 'just a car', too!
My first thoughts were exactly like yours. I loved Kids are Alright because it introduced Ben and Lisa, and I loved Ben and Lisa. Plus the MoTW was totally cool. And the fight at the end between the monster and Dean and Sam was awesome. The way they intercut Dean and Sam individually fighting and then Ben shepherding the kids out of the basement. Loved that scene. So, yea, Kids Are Alright is a top favorite. But then you put Reichenbach in the mix. The heartbreak of the scene between Dean and Sam in the bar, to the snarky fun of demon!Dean with Cole and the whole dance they did in their fight. That was such a great episode. So, I'm with you, those two are my top 2 favorites, hard to choose between them.
Oh yes, it was good to meet Lisa and Ben, he was such a mini-Dean and a brave little lad, too. But snarky demon Dean just pips that to the post!
'Pips that to the post'--love that. And yes, demon!Dean was very effective in 10.02, so callous and disinterested in the things Dean normally holds most dear.
So many good ones! Was torn about Everybody Loves a Clown for all the John grief and those glorious full sun scenes of the boys out in Bobby's yard (they look so vulnerable talking in the sunshine compared to hunting monsters in the dark), but I have to go with Hello, Cruel World. Watching Sam devolve into hallucinations and grasping at reality was deliciously awful, plus that warehouse scene gave us Dean talking Sam down with Stone Number One which makes me emotional every time I watch it.
Argh, but Good God Y'All had so many gorgeously shot scenes and Spirit In The Sky was a great musical cue, how it transitioned into the music playing in the car that they approach. Titus Welliver as War? We needed more of him. The perfect snarky horseman playing with everyone around him.
There are so many good second episodes. For this poll I voted for Reichenbach. I loved the interaction between demon!Dean and Sam in the bar. It was so heartbreaking, and yet, it was awesome for Sam in his determination to get his brother back, especially after the disappointment from S8 and S9 in him saying he wouldn't go after his brother. It was nice to see Sam fighting for Dean this time. I loved the whole fight sequence between Dean and Cole. Dean's snarkiness was so much fun, and to see Cole get beat down. At that time I didn't much care for Cole, so it was nice to see him get hiss. Overall it was a great episode.

BUT.....then you put The Kids Are Alright into the mix. I adored that episode as well. It was the introduction to Ben and Lisa. I loved Ben and Lisa, especially the thought of Dean/Lisa pairing. Everything about that episode was just awesome. So, this is a very close second for me.

But then there are all the episodes for Season 1 thru 9. They were also so equally good. I don't even remember what the episodes were about in S11, S13 and S14. Sad, but true. I do remember S12's second episode. That one was okay. Dean and Mary got Sam back, so I enjoyed that one. Overall, Episode 2 does a good job of keeping us hooked.
s11 had Sam figuring out how to decontaminate himself while Dean dealt with Crowley and a soul-sucking baby. Fun times! But it's definitely a two-parter with the previous episode, so I can see why it doesn't stand out in your memory.
Ah yes! Now I remember S11's second episode. thanks for the reminder. That one was okay. But definitely more toward the bottom of the second episodes out of all the seasons.
Good God' Y'all. Because that shot going up the main street was just so beautiful. My second choice, Form and Void, because Billie and that amazing scene. I think I'm all wrapped up in the look of things. :D
Well, the show does provide some outstanding visuals, and both those episodes definitely delivered in that respect. ;)
By my icon, my choice should be obvious. That scene, for me, has been one of the most powerful of the entire series for the brothers' relationship and resonated heavily with me. Sam struggling with reality/hallucinations and Dean's speech about making him Stone Number One? I weep every time at that scene...
Like many others, I also love almost all mentioned episodes, but I went with "Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester?" Mostly because of the one scene, when Cas "invades" Dean's dreams for the first time and is all bad-ass. And the cinematography in that scene, with all the close-up of their faces, helped a lot.
But also for Dean's troubles with readjustment after his stint in hell. It reminded me of what you read about a lot of soldiers who come back from a warzone. Plus Sam's double play with Ruby and his addiction,... So many good things!
Yeah, as a second episode it did a great job of following up on the stuff set up in the season opener.
To be honest I don't remember most of the episodes in this poll. "Reichenbach" is a particular favorite because Demon Dean was such a great character.
I love Hello, Cruel World especially for the stone number one scene, and all the other brother moments. And watching Sam dealing with his hallucinations was heartbreaking.
I love this poll idea!! I'm going with "Good God, Y'all." I come back to this episode a lot. I love the setting and the small band of survivors trope and the uncertainty over who is the enemy messing with people's psychology trope. Love Rufus and Ellen and Jo. Love those beautifully lit scenes where Sam is tied up—Jo and Rufus forcing salt in his mouth (so unnerving), Titus Welliver as War ("Wait 'til you're thigh-deep in warm corpses"). Really love all the tension in this ep, especially between Sam and Dean.

So many good eps, though. I've gotta give mention to "The Kids Are Alright" because I find it one of the most effectively horrifying MotW episodes in the entire series. And Dean + Ben and Lisa! And then "Hello Cruel World" includes one of my most favorite and rewatched scenes (the one near the beginning with Sam in the chair). And oh man, there’s so much I adore about "Everybody Loves a Clown". I love seeing all the episodes across the seasons lined up like this. ♥
I thought it would be a fun way to look at the show, as opposed to the usual season- or character-based polls. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves so far!

The MotW in "The Kids Are Alright" really is horrifying--that poor mother who drives her 'daughter' into the lake ... brr. She's going to be messed up for a long time.
