So, I've signed up for National Novel Writing Month, because I have nothing better to do with my time. Or because I've lost my mind. Take your pick. In any case, here's the first installment of backstory to Corbel & Squinch's Universal Compendium of Everything.

6. Instead of the standard form letter, the school sent a postcard inviting him to a brunch. He didn’t go, but he was seriously tempted.

5. His father went there. Of course, his father went for the sports, but it’s enough to make things a little more pleasant at home.
