De profundis clamavi ad te, Domine; | From the depths, I have cried out to you, O Lord;
Domine, exaudi vocem meam. | Lord, hear my voice.
Fiant aures tuæ intendentes | Let your ears be attentive
in vocem deprecationis meæ. | to the voice of my supplication.
Si iniquitates observaveris, Domine, | If you, Lord, were to mark iniquities,
Domine, quis sustinebit? | who, O Lord, shall stand?
Quia apud te propitiatio est; | For with you is forgiveness;
et propter legem tuam sustinui te, Domine. | and because of your law, I stood by you, Lord.
Sustinuit anima mea in verbo ejus: | My soul has stood by his word.
Speravit anima mea in Domino. | My soul has hoped in the Lord.
A custodia matutina usque ad noctem, | From the morning watch, even until night,
speret Israël in Domino. | let Israel hope in the Lord.
Quia apud Dominum misericordia, | For with the Lord there is mercy,
et copiosa apud eum redemptio. | and with him is plenteous redemption.
Et ipse redimet Israël | And he will redeem Israel
ex omnibus iniquitatibus ejus. | from all his iniquities.
