Once, for four months, she lived entirely on peaches and peanut butter cookies, with milk and occasionally broccoli. It wasn't something she'd recommend to anyone, but it had worked for her at the time. Now she looked back and wondered how she'd managed without bread and butter, apples and pears and bananas, the Jamaican ginger beer Edward sometimes bought her when he thought she wasn't paying attention. Saturdays, she made him crepes and filled them with peaches and whipped cream, but she always had hers with strawberry preserves: a little too sweet, but she found she wasn't that keen on peaches any more. Besides, she found she liked the way the seeds went crunch when she bit down on them.
