15 books meme

Snagged from sholio: List 15 books you've read that will always stick with you -- list the first 15 you can recall in 15 minutes. Don't take too long to think about it.

1. Watership Down, by Richard Adams
2. Something Wicked This Way Comes, by Ray Bradbury
3. Night Watch, by Terry Pratchett
4. To Say Nothing of the Dog, by Connie Willis
5. Brat Farrar, by Josephine Tey
6. The Book of Imaginary Beings, by Jorge Luis Borges
7. The Arrival, by Shaun Tan
8. The Big Over Easy, by Jasper Fforde
9. Gaudy Night, by Dorothy L. Sayers
10. Sabriel, by Garth Nix
11. Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis
12. The Ballad of the White Horse, by G.K. Chesterton
13. Swallows and Amazons, by Arthur Ransom
14. The Iliad, by Homer
15. The Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum

This was really hard. Honestly, I'm not sure I actually managed it--more than a few cases are me going "okay, think of just one book by author X", which is probably cheating. But if I hadn't, the first 8 books would have been by Jasper Fforde, since I got all of them from the library yesterday. Several of my favorite authors didn't make it onto the list at all, but that's inevitable when you're writing down a train of thought instead of making a systematic list. (Missing: Diana Wynn Jones, Charles Williams, Patricia C. Wrede, to name a few.)
