i have, over the last few days, dug up several hundred dandelions and thistles

Our bodies are our gardens to which our wills are gardeners. ~William Shakespeare

Gardens are not made by sitting in the shade. ~Rudyard Kipling

Found these by searching for "garden" at Seemed appropriate, given the amount of weeding I've been doing and will probably have to continue to do until everything gets baked into the ground in late June. Our garden (and yard in general) has been neglected for the past four or so years, and it shows. Current goal is to get it looking decent by this time next month, since that's when my sister's getting married and all the various relatives will converge on our house--several of whom are serious gardeners. We don't want to cause them distress. Also, to plant a vegetable garden, because I've wanted one since I was about eight, and am finally old enough to actually get it done (and not lose interest half-way through the growing season).

In pursuit of this, we have bought a tiller, which should arrive sometime this week. Main goal with that will be to till ground and not someone's foot. Or the dog, which would be quite possible because he's black and somewhat stupid.
Thanks for the link to the website! It's really... quite distracting. ::puts off doing her homework - hey, I only have two weeks left anyway...::
You're welcome! :p

Yeah, the last couple week are definitely the hardest. I did my best to pretend it wasn't any different from any other year, and that at least got me to class and partway through the homework assignments. My last paper was really really short, though.

::You can make it!::
I have a black thumb and helping Mum in the garden would mean me watching wwhile she did the digging :D
...I'm not sure whether to say 'sorry' or 'congratulations'. Me, I happen to enjoy gardening, or at least the end product enough that it makes the rest of it worthwhile. I've killed, or at least been present for the death of several house plants, but I've also nursed some sticks back into leafy health, so. My thumb tends toward green, I suppose.

I hope, since I'm planting a vegetable garden this weekend.
It rained tonight. I don't have to get up at seven to water the plants before eight! (Water restrictions Saturday and Tuesday before 8am :()
