daddy's girl

worms; batman; roller skates

Please note semi-colons: the three topics are completely unrelated, although now my brain won't stop showing me pictures of Batman on roller skates fighting gigantic worms. Um.

So, last night it rained, which meant that this morning on my way to work I had to avoid stepping on about a bazillion worms (and one slug, although I might have stepped on it if I hadn't been running late. Also, the popping sound they make when you squash them creeps me out). This got me wondering why, exactly, they bother crawling out into the middle of the sidewalk anyway---seems to make about as much sense as a human trying to swim across the ocean unaided. Well, the scale's not quite right, but something like that.

Some of the worms were really really tiny---not much thicker than hairs. They were actually kind of cute. But I've always had an inexplicable fondness for worms.

The complete set of Batman: The Animated Series is currently on sale at Amazon for $80---50% off regular price. I am deeply, deeply tempted. Deeply. I've been watching random episodes on youtube, and although some of them are kind of cheesy, and others feel a bit smushed time-wise, they're all great fun, and the ones that are good are really really good.

Batman Beyond is also hugely on sale, which is almost more of a temptation---that's the show I watched regularly while growing up, and I love it inordinately, despite its faults.

...

Excuse me, I just spent 15 minutes looking up all the animated movies---I'd forgotten there were so many of them. At least they aren't on sale, so less temptation there.

Maybe I should just buy the two shows---it would be $136, which I can easily afford at the moment, and given that I keep rewatching episodes on youtube, it seems unlikely I'd get bored with them.

Yes? No? Opinions, please. I am horribly indecisive when it comes to purchases of more than a couple dollars.

Also, today for the first time in about 7 years I went roller skating. Aside from an awkward stop at the bottom of our driveway (which I actually skated down for the first time since I was about 8), it went pretty well. By the end, I had a pretty good rhythm going, and some nice speed, despite having to work my way uphill. I'll probably be really sore tomorrow, but it was definitely worth it.
I loved Batman Beyond. Did you see the movie? I should invest in getting some of my favorite cartoons. I really miss them.
Return of the Joker? Yes, and loved it, although the flash-backs made me cringe (in a good way!) and the laser-thing was a tad over the top. But all the character stuff was awesome, and the ending was pretty much pitch-perfect Batman. The only thing that bugged me a little was that Dick Greyson wasn't anywhere.

...Y'know, I think I'm going to go buy at least BB, because if you like it too, I'm assured of at least one person in my current circle that I can squee with, and that's all the encouragement I need.
