and we're off!

Today's word count: 2,030. Exactly where I wanted to be, and I didn't even have to stay up all hours to manage it! We'll see how long that lasts, though. Over at gentle_edgar we've got the first part of A Laborious Madness, which is this year's entry. For those of you familiar with the grand, stalled-out Corbel & Squinch's Universal Compendium of Everything, this is the prequel to that. The main characters are Gabe's parents, with Ian's dad making an appearance (I think).

Bits and pieces will be going up every night over gentle_edgar, for as long as I can keep it up. Just think of it as a serial story, only with fewer cliff-hangers. (Speaking of cliff-hangers, I just picked up a copy of The Hardy Boys and the Case of the Missing Chums, and so far every single chapter has ended with a cliff-hanger that is resolved in the next chapter within a page. It's rather ridiculous, but a lot of fun.)
