| Not much this week, but something. Part 2 of Things Already Seen. In which there are wraith and John runs a lot. (I can't decide whether or not to capitalize "wraith") (eta: friends-locked; just ping me and i'll add you) Two teeny-tiny art prompts starring John and Ronon: first bit, in which Ronon makes a statement (now in delicious cartoon form thanks to pentapus); second bit, in which there is mayhem. | |

| These are all short and not what I'm supposed to be writing, but I don't really care because I wrote them and they're finished and I'm trying to make both of those things happen more often. (Whee!) Elizabeth in Amber. Sometimes the longer road is simply longer. [tag for Before I Sleep] I Am Bulletproof. Rodney's theory of Batman, which is perhaps a metaphor for other things. Perfect Fit. John's stupidly in love with a cantankerous old lady. | |
| (best part about doing this unofficially is that i get to start with a positive word count.) so. said i'd put together a Things Already Seen filter, which i have, but wanted to check with you guys again, now that i'm going to be posting UNEDITED fic bits daily (i think/hope/pray...). public/flock/filter? speak now or later, but i don't want to inadvertently annoy people by clogging up their flists. ...or maybe i should post it on my, y'know, fic journal? ... nah. too inconvenient and also this way i can use my damnit! icon when necessary. ( warning: first 2,500 words have been posted previously, also, a complete lack of italics ) | |

| Hah! I actually wrote stuff this past month. That's a lovely change from the way things've been going. Here's hoping next month's list is longer and contains more substantial works. WIPs:Things Already Seen ( I). The one where John from the end of season 1 winds up in place of John from the beginning of season 2. This is currently friendslocked (like all my WIPs), but just let me know you're interested and I'll give you access when I get back from vacation. Non-WIPs:Did you mean: asdfjkl; Rodney and the Ancients' lack of Google. Nepenthe. John and Teer and John's choices. Most Illogical. Spock and Kirk and a secret mystery crossover character. (My first ever Trek story! This feels like something momentous.) Memes:Ten sentences each about Peter Pan, John Sheppard, Radek Zelenka, and Jareth the Goblin King | |

| In which I continue writing fanfic-ish stuff for comic books from an AU SGA/original fic fusion. That is, this is fanfiction for the comic books that John Sheppard reads in the AU where he's got tattoos and there's magic and stuff, which is a cross-over/fusion thing with Corbel & Squinch. As you've probably gathered, I feel rather apologetic about the whole thing, but I promised myself I'd start posting non-WIP stuff on a regular basis, and this is all I've got at the moment. (Although I just quit watching The Spirit, which is enough to make anyone feel better about their story-telling abilities.) | |
| So, there's fic. *eyes it dubiously* Wrote it in under an hour, and I think it shows, but it's something, and that's all I really care about at this stage. Some of the internal logic/cause-effect is a little wonky, but that's what I get for speed-writing it. A few of you may remember me saying something about my brain wanting to write fanfic for comic books that exist only in a cross-over AU . . . well, this is the result. Be warned. | |

| I know I said I'd be posting NaNoWriMo updates daily. By now, you should know better than to believe me when I say stuff like that. NaNo goes apace, but it goes so on paper, and in such a form as I am loath to share with the public. In apology, I offer you an abandoned WIP, starring Teyla, and entirely plotless. Which is why it is now abandoned. Because I'm too lazy and beset by rabid--somethings. Not plot bunnies, because there are no plots to them. Just scenes, and fragments, and (occasionally) pretty-sounding words. Anyway: here is Teyla, not unscathed. P.S. Spellcheck wanted to replace "WIP" with "WEEP", which is (sadly) appropriate. | |

| Today's word count: 2,030. Exactly where I wanted to be, and I didn't even have to stay up all hours to manage it! We'll see how long that lasts, though. Over at gentle_edgar we've got the first part of A Laborious Madness, which is this year's entry. For those of you familiar with the grand, stalled-out Corbel & Squinch's Universal Compendium of Everything, this is the prequel to that. The main characters are Gabe's parents, with Ian's dad making an appearance (I think). Bits and pieces will be going up every night over gentle_edgar, for as long as I can keep it up. Just think of it as a serial story, only with fewer cliff-hangers. (Speaking of cliff-hangers, I just picked up a copy of The Hardy Boys and the Case of the Missing Chums, and so far every single chapter has ended with a cliff-hanger that is resolved in the next chapter within a page. It's rather ridiculous, but a lot of fun.) | |
| Spammity spam spam! Well, it's sort of anti-spam, since I'm doing this instead of posting here every time I post something on gentle_edgar. More because I'm lazy than out of any sense of politeness. Last Player in the GameTimestamp for Elbow On the Floor. In which there is frozen yogurt. And sand. [sga] Farewell to CandideSam and the multiverse. [sg-1] Also started a tw/sga fic which may or may not ever get written, depending on . . . stuff. Wrote a bit more of Boojum, the fic where John pulls a Daniel. Restarted Stories Thrice Told. Still have to write trishkafibble's timestamp--I know exactly how I want to do it, just need to find the energy to sit down and pound it out. Which is true for a lot of my things. *sighs* | |
| One essay down, four (well, three and a half) to do. Am feeling so very unmotivated. Blah. Death and Taxes, in which John and Ronon drink beer and discuss tax forms. For siegeofangels's economic. stimulation. package. comment fest. let's. get. some. more. periods. in. there. whee. did i mention unmotivated? | |
| More of John and Rodney in college. Because I am sick and can't bring myself to concentrate on homework for more than about ten minutes at a time. (I mean-- sea urchins. Not the most interesting topic, y'know?) ( feelin' crummy ) | |
| Am currently missing what is, I'm sure, a very lovely (free) concert. All polyphony and stuff that I'm usually thrilled about. But a body at rest wants to stay at rest, and so I'm still in front of my computer. (It's been a long week.) For aella_irene, here is SG-1 as people from Greek mythology. I hope this makes sense to someone other than me. ( The religions of ancient Greece and Rome are extinct. ) | |
| Here's another thing that's probably part of something longer. I even have a maybe-sort-of storyline roughed out, but it's not going anywhere. So give it a kick in the pants. Give me prompts for what might happen further down the line. Or tell me to stop being silly and go back to writing about John being all traumatized by everyone dying. ( the dreaded 'John and Rodney as college roommates' story ) | |
| A kind-of coda to Twelfth Night, written a couple months ago. (Am still working on essay. Am almost in sight of end. Am not looking forward to having to type the thing up.) ( You are betroth'd both to a maid and man ) | |
| Wrote this in a comment and then forgot about it for a while.
* Sam can hold her own in a fight, can take down men a head taller than herself and half-again her weight. But she does it with mere efficiency, and is grateful when the job is done. There’s no pleasure for her there, except as stress relief. So when she sees Teyla spar for the first time, she finds herself a little in awe of the woman. Not simply because of her skill, her ability to take anyone down, regardless of the inevitable size-difference, but because for her, the fight is a dance. And it is always beautiful, no matter the dance partner.
(And she finds herself respecting John Sheppard a little for getting up every time Teyla knocks him down, for continuing despite what must feel like inevitability of defeat. For doing that voluntarily for three years. Sam spars with Teyla once, to be polite, but she would rather spend her time in success, not failure.) | |
