Things I Love About SPN s10

Just a few of my favorite things:

1. This is the season that brought me back to the show after I lost track of it back in s2. "Ask Jeeves" convinced me to purchase a season pass, and after that I quickly snarfed up the previous 9 seasons (all out of order). Even if the rest of the season disappointed, I'd love it just for that alone.

2. But the rest of the season didn't disappoint. Not to say I adored every episode, but I dearly love a pretty sizeable chunk of them: "Fan Fiction", "Ask Jeeves", "Girls, Girls, Girls", "Hibbing 911", "About a Boy", "Halt & Catch Fire", "The Things They Carried", "Inside Man", "Book of the Damned", "The Werther Project", "Angel Heart".

3. I probably watched "Ask Jeeves" and "The Werther Project" about 8 times each while waiting for the following episodes.

4. I know fandom was (and is) divided over the character of Cole, but I thought his whole little arc was interesting and satisfying--if only because it's one of the rare occasions we get to see Dean go all-out against a normal human. (Also, his last episode, "The Things They Carried" has some ridiculously beautiful shots in it.)

5. This season gave us the marvelous addition of Rowena, who definitely stands as one of my favorite recurring characters. In this season in particular she's magnificantly amoral.

6. The overall season arc of Dean and Sam coping with all the various issues arising from the Mark of Cain is pretty compelling--and I loved that unlike s3, Sam has the chance to actually act on his reckless desperation, and then succeeds. And then the next season is spent dealing with the consequences, sure, but I thought it was a good way to mix up the partial thematic retread of an earlier season.

What are your favorite parts of s10?
I have to love season 10 forever for "Fan Fiction." I thought it was a perfect acknowledgment of fandom, and the play director and her sidekick were perfect. And the catchy tunes!

And the episode where Sam cures demon!Dean--that one was also very, very good.
The music in that episode was fabulous--it sounded like a real musical, y'know? I could sing any one of those songs from memory if someone asked, no problem. And yes: Marie and ... her stage manager (I feel so bad for forgetting her name!) are so much fun. They really stand up as solid characters--they have their own lives and motivations and feel like they exist outside of their interactions with Sam and Dean.

And yes--10.03 is very good, or at least mostly so. If I didn't find myself always fast-forwarding the bits with Castiel and Hannah in them, it would totally go on my list of "episodes I love".
There were so many episodes to enjoy in season 10 (Ask Jeeves, Fan Fiction and The Werther Project were just a few of my top favs!) I enjoyed demon Dean too much I think, and I love seeing all the outtakes of Jensen chasing Jared around the bunker with the hammer - very funny!
Ooh, I need to add a note about demon!Dean, because I really like how they handled that mini-arc (even if the PR team over-hyped it). It was long enough for us to really get to know demon!Dean, without dragging on for solong that it wrecked how the show functions.
Season ten will go down in history as the season I thought would break me in ways SPN has never broken me before, but it was hands down my fave season other than two!
